What will I learn?

If you are looking to change careers by entering into the dynamic profession of nursing, or if you are a recent college graduate looking for a challenging career focus, you should consider the Accelerated Second-Degree Program. The program is designed for people with bachelor’s degrees outside of nursing to fast-track their entry into professional nursing. Students complete the program in 16 months. Upon graduation, you will receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and will qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). You will be prepared to launch your new career as a registered nurse-making a difference for your patients, their families, and communities. Begin your studies in any semester, Fall, Spring or Summer Study and learn in a state-of-the-art, nursing simulation center Get hands-on experience at one of more than 50 clinical affiliates.

Entry requirements

For international students

Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution Minimum GPA of 3.3/B+/88% across all college coursework; At least 63 transferable core/liberal arts and ancillary credits; All prerequisite coursework must be completed prior to admission; If dismissed from a nursing program, you are not admissible to LIU Nursing. Accelerated Nursing BS Math & Science Prerequisite Requirements: Coursework must be completed within 5 years of enrollment; Minimum grade of 3.3/B+/88% or higher; Lectures and labs graded separately will be evaluated individually. Accelerated Nursing BS Math & Science Prerequisite Coursework: Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credits with lab); Anatomy & Physiology II (4 credits with lab); Lifespan Developmental Psychology (3 credits); Chemistry (4 credits with lab); Microbiology (4 credits with lab); Statistics (3 credits); Finite Mathematics (3 credits – e.g., pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, or algebra).
