As one of the fastest-growing occupations in the world, biomedical engineering opens an array of opportunities for improving human health - from creating artificial hearts to advancing the technology for rapid disease testing. This interdisciplinary BME Master of Science program delivers a solid theoretical foundation in science and engineering provides a rigorous education in the principles and tools of engineering and gives students the hands-on skills to design biomedical devices, instruments and systems. Ranked in the top 16% of the nation's public biomedical engineering schools, the program features award-winning faculty at the forefront of areas such as tissue engineering and nanomedicine.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to the BME Accelerated MS program is a selective process. Our Admissions Committee does a holistic review of all of the following materials.

Admissions materials needed:

  1. A 1-2 page essay or statement of purpose describing your background, research interests and career goals. Include in your statement any information pertinent to your research experience, whether in course work, special projects or employment. Please explain why you want to obtain a graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and what, specifically, led you to apply to our graduate program. This should be uploaded via the Grad App portal.
  2. A minimum of two letters of recommendation from former professors or individuals knowledgeable about your academic and scientific abilities. Students may submit/request additional letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation should be uploaded to the Grad App portal.
  3. A CV/resume to be uploaded.
  4. An Unofficial Transcript that can be uploaded via the Grad Path portal. Applicants are required to currently be pursuing a bachelors degree in engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or quantitative life sciences for admission into the Program, with a minimum GPA of 3.3. Previous coursework including two courses in calculus, ordinary differential equations, and at least one course in life science is required.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
