What will I learn?

Mechanical engineering ranges from basic research to product development to marketing launches of products that make life better every day. From transportation trains planes automobiles to entertainment TVs earbuds gameplayers from computers to the products you use routinely in life-these things were made possible by mechanical engineers. Herff prepares our students for careers ranging from transportation to aerospace and defense to manufacturing and processing. Many mechanical engineers work in professional office settings. Many also frequently visit worksites work in production environments and even travel around the world. Our graduates work for companies the government and not for profits in a wide variety of roles including research development design testing and marketing. Many become leaders.

Entry requirements

For international students

A Baccalaureate or Masters Degree The applicant must provide an unofficial transcript showing that a U.S. bachelors degree or its equivalent was awarded by an accredited college or university or is expected to be awarded within one term. If accepted to the University of Memphis the student must provide an official transcript by the end of their first semester. In addition transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. GPA 3.04.0 cumulative GPA. Departments may set higher standards.
