What will I learn?

The UIC Nursing doctoral program emphasizes strong mentoring relationships between students and faculty advisors who are nationally and internationally acclaimed scholars. Offered only at the Chicago campus, the PhD program admits students once a year to begin in the fall semester.The College of Nursing PhD degree requires a minimum of 96 semester hours: 32 semester hours earned in the prior master’s degree and 64 semester hours in the core courses, advanced courses and independent research earned in the doctoral program (48 semester hours must be taken at UIC).

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants for the post-baccalaureate option must have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited program. Applicants for the post-masters option must have a masters degree in nursing from an accredited program. Applicants who have a masters degree in a field other than nursing may also be considered for admission to the post-masters option but may have to complete additional course work based on prior educational background.

Students must have at least a 2.75/4.00 grade point average for the final 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of the first baccalaureate degree.
