What will I learn?

The International Year program is specially designed to prepare international students with the solid foundation needed to succeed in an undergraduate degree at Western Washington University. The International Year is a one- or two-quarter program offering preparation for a wide range of majors that suit all interests. You will learn in a supportive environment to develop your academic and English language skills, while adjusting to living and learning in the USA. After successfully completing the program with the required grades, you can continue your undergraduate degree with the confidence to engage and succeed.

Entry requirements

For international students

The International Year program will support you while you begin earning credits for your undergraduate degree at Western.

You will need to submit: Certified copies of academic records, including transcripts and school leaving certificates.

English Language Requirements

You will need a minimum TOEFL, IELTS or Pearson Versant score. The length of your International Year program depends on your level of English language proficiency.

IELTS - 6.0 overall

Pearson Versant - 55-63

2-Quarter

TOEFL - 60 overall

IELTS - 5.5 overall

Pearson Versant - 48-54

IELTS - 5.0 overall
