What will I learn?

The Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) combines a rigorous academic curriculum with practicum experiences in various areas of student life. Every HESA course is infused with an examination of equity and a passion for social justice. Class conversations and coursework focus on improving access to higher education for first generation and low-income students. Each HESA student has the opportunity to do an internship and practicum placement at USF or other Bay Area institutions.The Higher Education & Student Affairs (HESA) Masters program prepares students for a professional career in student affairs and leadership in higher education. The program trains professionals to understand issues of equity and social justice in higher education while thinking critically about how to transform organizations to improve educational outcomes for all students.

Entry requirements

For international students

One set of unofficial transcripts from each university/college previously attended. For U.S. applicants, the degree must be from a regionally accredited university/college. An applicant with a pending degree must provide official verification of expected degree completion from institution's Registrar or school official. An undergraduate degree is required to apply to a master's program. A master's degree is required to apply for a doctoral program. Please note: if admitted you will need to submit official transcripts prior to enrolling.Recommended GPA of 2.75.Two current, signed letters of recommendation, noting suitability for graduate work.Current resume.
