What will I learn?

This document is intended for students pursuing the Master of Arts degree in Romance Languages with a concentration in French. If further information is needed or if any information contained in this document requires clarification the student should speak with the Coordinator of Graduate Studies. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures offers a program leading to the Master of Arts degree in Romance Languages with a concentration in either French or Spanish. A total of thirty three 33 semester hours. Up to twelve 12 hours may be taken in a collateral area with prior approval of the respective graduate coordinator in French or Spanish. Students interested in pursuing teaching licensure may be required to complete additional hours. At least 23 hours must be taken in 7000 level courses eight [8] courses in all . Satisfactory completion of a minimum of six 6 courses in the areas of literature linguistics grammar stylistics and culture taught in the department in the language of concentration.

Entry requirements

For international students

Baccalaureate Degree The applicant must provide an unofficial transcript showing that a U.S. bachelors degree or its equivalent was awarded by an accredited college or university or is expected to be awarded within one term. If accepted to the University of Memphis the student must provide an official transcript by the end of their first semester. In addition transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. 2.75 4.0 cumulative GPA. Departments may set higher standards.
