What will I learn?

Wichita State’s Master of Education (MEd) in counseling will help you build a strong background in human growth and development-preparing you for a rewarding career as a licensed counselor in a variety of settings. The program offers the flexibility of several specializations (addiction, clinical mental health, higher education, school and sports), a certificate option and practicum experience. And you’ll enjoy the convenience of evening classes as well as a number of online and hybrid courses.At Wichita State, applied learning is everything. In fact, every degree we offer has a guaranteed applied learning or research experience built right into it equipping you with the relevant skills and experience to make you workforce ready before graduation. The MEd in counseling offers different tracks depending upon the student's career goals. These tracks include addiction counseling (60 credit hours), clinical mental health counseling (60 credit hours), higher education counseling (45 credit hours), school counseling (48 credit hours) and sports counseling (60 credit hours).

Entry requirements

For international students

Earned a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution or a recognized institution in another country whose requirements for the bachelors degree are substantially equivalent to a U.S. bachelors degree. To be considered for admission to the MEd in counseling, applicants must meet the following requirements:Have a 3.000 GPA overall,Submit a statement of professional goals,Submit a resume, andProvide contact information for three people to serve as professional references.
