What will I learn?

Our graduate program is a collaboration with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center UTHSC . We offer three graduate degrees in BME MS degree with project MS degree with thesis and PhD with doctoral dissertation. Students can choose to work in the areas of Biosensors Biomechanics Bioelectricity and Biomaterials. Biomedical Engineering is a broad field that focuses on improving health with the use of engineering principles. For example designing new implants for those who suffer from hip fractures developing tools sensing electrical signals to detect heart problems discovering drugs to fight cancer and other illnesses are all possible job descriptions for BME graduates. Project Option Students will be required to complete 33 credit hours.The University of Memphis UofM University of Tennessee Health Science Center UTHSC Joint Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering offers M.S. thesis and non thesis and Ph.D. degrees. The Joint program takes advantage of the resources of the engineering and basic science programs at UofM and the medical and clinical programs at UTHSC. All students entering the graduate biomedical program are matriculated in the Joint Program with their degree awarded from both institutions.

Entry requirements

For international students

Baccalaureate Degree The applicant must provide an unofficial transcript showing that a U.S. bachelors degree or its equivalent was awarded by an accredited college or university or is expected to be awarded within one term. If accepted to the University of Memphis the student must provide an official transcript by the end of their first semester. In addition transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. 2.75 4.0 cumulative GPA. Departments may set higher standards.
