What will I learn?

With an emphasis on original research, the Astronomy and Astrophysics doctoral program trains you to be an independent scientist equipped to investigate, experiment and communicate results. As you build firsthand experience with the tools and facilities that define the field of astrophysics, you'll receive mentoring from a team of program advisers and faculty, scientists and researchers, and peers. Areas of concentration focus on theoretical, observational and instrumentational astronomy, which work in tandem to help you create a significant and scholarly contribution to astrophysical knowledge. A Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics demonstrates a student's excellence in research and preparedness to work at the frontiers of the field.
