What will I learn?

A career as a social studies teacher is more than teaching history, government or current events. At the University of Central Missouri, we know a big part of your work after earning your social science teacher certification is, per the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), ''to help young people develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.'' UCM’s Secondary Education program, which includes the social studies teacher certification and History minor, can prepare you for the vital job ahead. Earn your Social Studies Teaching degree with us to make the difference you seek. UCM’s nationally accredited Social Studies Teaching degree will not only prepare you to be an educator but also give you an edge as you apply for high school teaching jobs in social studies. Learn from faculty passionate about your success in the classroom, at UCM and in your future career as a social science teacher.
