Studying in the UK can is an exciting experience but can also be challenging for people that are coming from a different country and have not been here before, as an international student we all have had to face new experiences when starting school. Here are some things that are important to know and do while studying in the UK that can significantly improve your overall experience while in school based off my personal experience. 1.*Be Open minded:* When entering a new environment its okay to be unaware of the traditions and culture of the city you are in. but keeping an open mind and being able to embrace new culture and traditional is an important way of having a pleasant stay within the school. 2.*Be friendly:* making friends and networking within university is important in order to improve the quality of your stay in school as the friends you make in school are forever; Outing are soo much fun when you share them with friends and colleagues. Networking also helps your career after finishing school. 3.*Be involved in school activities:* Schools are often structure in a community manner ensuring that every student has a group where they meet people with similar hobbies or interest. Finding societies and communities you want to be a part of or are interested in help to grow skills and even identify passions you were unaware you had. 4.*Early Planning:* This is my final tip but the most important in my opinion. As before you start your school at the university in the UK you have to first outline your goals and objectives for coming to school, this will help you identify your priorities and navigate your stay in school accordingly as there are a lot of activities and events that are available within university that can make it easy for students to loss site of their goals if not writing at the beginning of school. Remember you YOLO and don’t forget to make the most use of your stay in university.

When it comes to essential things students should know about the UK, applying for part-time job opportunities is one of them. Even if these jobs are unrelated to your field of study, they collaborate to develop skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-management, which are highly valued by companies in the UK. Additionally, applying for volunteering opportunities, such as becoming a course rep or joining student societies, provides many chances for networking and skill development. It also demonstrates our interests and responsibilities in extracurricular activities.

One of the most important things to know is that the UK education system is not based solely on grades. Independent research and self-study are significant elements here. One needs to gain knowledge not only through lectures and seminars but also through research. Most courses have assignments rather than exams, which allows students to gain knowledge about the given topic. This opens the door to vast knowledge and understanding of concepts by reading many articles, journals, and books. Our university has two libraries that are open 24/7 and provide access to all the books and materials required for students. Another important factor is related to job applications. The application process usually starts by the end of September and can extend up to a year, involving many steps like assessments, virtual interviews, group discussions, and in-person interviews. Additionally, every time you apply for a job, your CV matters a great deal. Your CV and cover letter should be tailored to the job description and requirements rather than using the same CV for all applications, even for jobs within the same department. The University of Liverpool has the UK's first Career Studio, run by students for students. They provide guidance in preparing CVs and cover letters and also help with interview preparation. Our careers and employability cell gives students access to numerous virtual and digital facilities, including virtual internships to enhance their CVs and career references. The UK accent can be quite difficult to understand atleast for some people, particularly the Scouse accent in Liverpool. I watched many videos and did my own research to be prepared for this, before coming to the UK. But sometimes this difference in accent can be quite daunting. These are a few important things to keep in mind for your study abroad journey to the UK.
