What is the cost of living like right now in Toowoomba?

The cost of living in Toowoomba is generally moderate compared to larger cities in Australia. Rent prices vary depending on the size of the accommodation you are looking for. Transportation costs are discounted for eligible students and individuals holding a concession card. There are also several stores in the area offering affordable groceries, and community kitchens provide fresh produce, fruits, meat, and hot meals, catering to the local community's needs.

Australia has seen a high surge in the cost of living and this applies to Toowoomba as well. Especially in the grocery and housing aspects, the prices are going up. However, the housing market is not that bad in Toowoomba as compared to the bigger cities.

Toowoomba is an incredibly lovely, beautiful city to live in. It's not far from major cities like Brisbane or the Gold coast. This makes it a great balance for studying and metropolitan life.

Although it's the beauty of this country town that attracts many people to Toowoomba, as an international student I also find the cost of living here to be a major factor of worth considering. Since the Australian borders reopened, they are many more international students coming to Australia, and although the cost of living may have increased in Toowoomba in recent years, it's still very affordable compared to the bigger cities.

The cost of accommodation depends on the area you choose to live, type of accommodation, and how many bedrooms or bathrooms you might need or want. As a student, I chose to live in the UniSQ residential college, located close to the uni. The living cost is quite reasonable. It's also a very good opportunity to get to know all the students.

When considering the cost of food, it varies from place to place. There are chain supermarkets as well as local produce markets. Personally, I like to do grocery shopping every week at the Sunday market in the city, located at the local PCYC.

For your transportation needs, they are buses that run regularly between the city and outer suburbs. As a student, don't forget to show your concession sticker or student ID, which can be provided by the university. You will get bus tickets at half- price!
