What will I learn?

Everyone has that one teacher that always believed in them. Be that teacher for your students and help create a brighter future for the next generation.

You'll learn the knowledge and skills to teach students through Year 7 to 12 in your chosen disciplinary areas.

Highlights of Studying the Bachelor of Secondary Education

A shared foundation year, between the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education, Bachelor of Primary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education, to develop key insights into major trends and themes in education. This shared foundation year allows for a seamless transition between degrees, giving you time to decide which age group you feel most comfortable teaching.

Benefit from our strong relationships with schools and industry partners. During your studies, you'll undertake 80 days of supervised professional experience with a dedicated placement officer to assist in organising your placement.

Broaden your knowledge with your choice of electives, while also specialising in your chosen teaching areas. Choices include in-demand disciplines such as English, mathematics and science along with new offerings in film, television and new media, legal studies and business. See below for full list of teaching areas.

Learn at your own pace, with flexible options including online learning you may be able to fast-track your studies.

Once accredited, eligible students can apply for Queensland teacher registration as soon as they graduate.
