Course overview In this course you empower your teaching journey with our specialist programme. Gain exceptional training and support to inspire young minds in the 3-11 age range, through close partnerships with schools. Our PGCE Primary (QTS) programme ensures your professional growth, guiding you to make informed teaching decisions. Complete the course to pursue a part-time Masters in Teaching Studies. Once you have enrolled on the PGCE primary course, you can opt to specialise in working with 3-7 year olds or 5-11 year olds or 7-11 year olds. Students on the 3-7 specialism will undertake two placements, in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. Students on the 5-11 specialism will undertake two placements, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Students on the 7-11 specialism will undertake two placements, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2.

Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants to the PGCE Primary (QTS) must hold a degree from a UK Higher Education Institution. Normally, this should be a 2:2 or above (and this will be a condition of any offer where the degree is not already awarded).You must also:have GCSE Mathematics, English and Science (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualifications, which will be a condition of any offer if not already achieved (equivalency tests will be accepted, but only from equivalency testing)complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before taking up a place on the coursecomplete relevant checks to ensure you have the health and physical capacity to teachagree to abide by the University of Birmingham Code of Professional Conduct and Fitness to Practise
