What will I learn?

The Science Teacher Education Program is designed to prepare and certify personnel to teach biology, chemistry, or physics.Our Chemistry Education program prepares pre-service teacher candidates to teach science in grades 6-12.Chemistry education refers to the teaching and learning of chemistry, the scientific study of matter, its properties, composition, structure, and the changes it undergoes. Chemistry education encompasses various aspects of chemical science instruction, including content knowledge, laboratory skills, scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and application of chemical concepts to real-world contexts.Chemistry education curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, and organic chemistry. It may also include interdisciplinary topics such as environmental chemistry, biochemistry, materials science, and forensic science. Curriculum standards and frameworks guide the development of instructional materials, lesson plans, and assessments to ensure alignment with learning objectives and educational standards.
