Study options

With more than 200 degrees, Macquarie offers a wide range of courses in business, science, engineering, information technology, humanities, arts, media and communications, medicine and health sciences. Students can also choose from Australia’s largest range of one-year master’s degrees or a wide range of double degrees to combine their interests and diversify their career prospects. In the 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject, Macquarie has fourteen subjects ranked in the top 150 globally.

Students can choose to study a single or a double bachelor’s degree.

Single bachelor’s degrees are perfect if students have a strong interest in one area or a specific career goal. In these degrees, students can choose to specialise in one or two majors within their chosen area of study, while still having access to flexible elective units to explore other interests.

Double bachelor degrees involve studying two complementary or completely different degrees. They can help students increase their career flexibility and lead to greater employment prospects.

Students can choose from a wide range of master’s degrees to advance their knowledge and career prospects. Macquarie has the largest range of one-year master’s degrees in Australia. Depending on the student’s prior academic qualifications, work experience or other recognised prior learning, they might be eligible for a one-year admission point into their chosen master degrees, enabling them to fast track their studies and save time and money. Students can also choose to complete two master degrees in as little as two years from a selection of popular double masters on offer.

Students could also choose to complete a Master of Research or a PhD at Macquarie in their areas of interest. The university also offers a wide range of pathway, English, executive training, study tour and study abroad programmes.

Some courses may also have a specific Weight Average Mark (WAM) requirement, which reflects overall performance in the student’s previous qualification and based on a percentage average (out of 100).

Depending on students’ prior qualifications, work experience, or other recognised prior learning, they may also be eligible for shorter admission points (ranging from 1 to 1.5 years) in master’s courses, enabling them to fast track their study and save on time and money.

Masters (by research)

To apply for masters (by Research) or PhD programme, students should be able to demonstrate research experience in their previous studies. Students can refer to the Higher Degree Research website for more information on eligibility requirements and how to apply.
