Student Speak

Ramink Singh Walia/ Masters of Journalism, Media and Communications

“I chose to come to the University of Tasmania because of its international reputation in the field of Arts and Media Studies. The concept of Tasmania's scenic and laid back lifestyle also fascinated me. I have not been disappointed.

Postgraduate study at UTAS appealed to me because of the wide range of media units available. It gave me the chance to, not only specialise, but also to gain knowledge about other areas of the industry from world-class lecturers.

I liked the way that more emphasis is given to the practical aspect of study at UTAS and that a tutorial is provided for each unit. If you don't understand anything in your class it can be covered during your tutorials.

I thoroughly enjoyed UTAS campus life. The best thing about university social clubs is that you get to meet people from all walks of life. I also had the opportunity to be a student ambassador for UTAS so I got the chance to interact with a lot of prospective students who wanted to know more about university life. This kind of interaction with others helped to increase my confidence.”
