Keyano College is a community college located in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, one of Canada’s largest municipalities stretching from north-central Alberta to Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. The college serves students through two facilities: the Clearwater Campus and Suncor Energy Industrial Centre in Fort McMurray.

In early 2023 the college has received over CAD 1 million from the Government of Alberta to invest in 93 new seats to be added to health care training programs. This expansion reflects the popularity of the courses in question and the college overall, with more students able to undertake these excellent programs.
Plans are also in discussion to expand the offering of English language classes for international students arriving in Canada for the first time. Unprecedented demand last year for places on these courses has caused the college to consider expansion, allowing more international students who aren’t fluent in English to being their journey at Keyano.
And students are being rewarded for their efforts across the college – in early 2023 at the annual Student Awards Ceremony, 429 awards were granted to students to a sum of CAD 530,000, helping them to continue their academic achievements.

International students applying to study at Keyano College will need to make sure that their tuition fees are paid. Fees must be paid 10 business days before the start of each academic semester. The fees vary by course and are set each year, so may rise for students on multi-year study programs.
Fees include tuition costs but also other additional fees, including health and dental cover, campus rec, and tech. Students will also have to pay extra fees if they choose to stay in the residential halls of the college.
To help with the financial costs of college study, there are a number of scholarships and bursaries that students are able to apply for. Some of these recognise excellent academic achievement, while others are awarded for those with particular talents or from a hardship background.
Some scholarships are provided by external bodies – funded by friends of the college. These may be for specific courses.
When applying to study at Keyano College, international students will be required to provide evidence of their high school education (or equivalent), including any certificates earned or any final exam results. If students have earned a diploma or degree, they will be expected to provide a copy of it as part of their application.
Specific programs may have further requirements such as evidence of specific subjects covered, or additional documents. Students should check the requirements for their chosen course on the college’s website.
All courses at Keyano are taught in English – therefore, students will need to provide evidence of a passing grade in an English language proficiency test. The required scores vary by study program. English language courses are available for those that don’t meet the requirements immediately.
Students may be asked to complete an assessment online to verify that their prior education meets the level required for their chosen program.

Students can choose from a selection of health-based study programs at this school, including nursing, paramedicine, education assistant, health care aid and early learning.
There are a selection of apprenticeships and study programs at this school, all focused on trades (domestic students only at this time) including electrical, welding, driver training and more.
