What will I learn?

Our Advanced Commerce degree will ensure you’re well-equipped to thrive in your chosen field, regardless of your desired career path. From the very beginning, this course offers a unique learning experience with early opportunities to build professional skills. You’ll learn alongside motivated peers, developing strong connections that support your growth and success. As you progress, you’ll gain in-depth expertise in your chosen major, then focus on a research topic that will form the basis of your Honours year. Throughout your studies, you’ll acquire a powerful blend of knowledge, ethical reasoning, technical expertise and research experience – skills that will enhance your employability, support lifelong learning, and prepare you for future postgraduate study.Wherever possible, our business majors are designed to conform to the membership standards of relevant professional bodies. Refer to individual business majors for specific professional recognition and accreditation information. You'll have the opportunity to apply your disciplinary knowledge to a major research project that connects what you’ve learned in class to real-world issues. This unit serves as a bridge between coursework and the final honours year by equipping you with the skills and experience needed to undertake independent research with confidence and purpose. You'll identify a research question or societal issue relevant to your field of study. Projects may be traditional academic research or applied investigations that address local or global challenges, such as sustainability, social equity, digital futures, or ethical business practices.Economists study more than just money – they analyse the world around them, from global markets to government policy to world events, to help make informed decisions in diverse industries. These decisions can impact how individuals and society access, consume and distribute wealth. With a focus on applied economics, this major gives you the knowledge and skills to understand important real-world issues such as unemployment, inequality, housing affordability, climate change and energy challenges. You will learn how to use big data, statistics, mathematics and business insights to evaluate trends and patterns in consumer spending, levels of competition in different industries, business cycles and financial crises. Economics gives you the tools to think analytically, make decisions and create solutions. You’ll gain a solid foundation in macroeconomics (factors that impact an economy as a whole) and microeconomics (the function of individual markets). You’ll also develop strong communication and interpersonal skills to successfully share complex data with a general audience.
