What will I learn?

Our Advanced Medical Science degree allows all the flexibility of the Medical Science degree and is designed for high-achieving students who want to extend themselves. This is a challenging program that includes advanced work, extension activities and additional research training. You will be linked to experienced researchers and be mentored throughout the Advanced Medical Science program. This program is an add-on to other programs. For example, the total full-time duration is four years for students completing a three-year Western Sydney Bachelor degree and the Bachelor of Applied Data Science. Five years for students completing a four-year Western Sydney Bachelor degree and the Bachelor of Applied Data Science. You will have an opportunity to apply skills and knowledge gained from this degree in a workplace setting, through an internship or an engaging work-integrated learning experience. Biomedical science is a broad field that aims to understand the biology that underpins human and animal health and disease. In this major you will study the structure and function of biological organisms from the molecular to the systemic. The coursework in this major will give you an integrated foundation in physiology and anatomy, along with biochemistry, cell biology and genetics. This major will equip you with core discipline knowledge from which you can embark on unlimited career choices in or outside of a laboratory - from hospital pathology to biomedical engineering, medical technology and beyond.

For international students

Successful completion of Global Assessment Certificate with a GPA of 2.3.Successful completion of Year 12 with an ATAR of 60, successful completion of a recognised foundation studies program, 1 year of university studies or completion of a qualification equivalent to an Australian AQF Certificate IV.2 years full-time study at a recognised postsecondary institution where the language of instruction is English.
