What will I learn?

This additional one-year program is normally undertaken by students with an excellent academic record in the Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Information Technology degrees who wish to broaden their knowledge as further preparation for professional practice or to meet the requirements for admission to a research degree. Students enrolled in the program are required to complete a project courses and other courses focused on research methods or advanced topics in computing.On successful completion of the program students will have: Advanced and in-depth knowledge of computing fundamentals directed towards an ability to undertake research projects in at least one area of computer science or information technology. Ability to communicate effectively with researchers in computer science and related fields. Advanced technical competencies in a discipline of computer science or information technology and the capacity to undertake postgraduate research. Ability to apply advanced concepts in research and development within the information, communication and technology (ICT) industry. Ability to undertake in depth, self-directed analysis (such as literature reviews) of the current level of knowledge in any area of computer science or information technology.

Entry requirements

For international students

Eligibility for admission to this program is based on applicants having completed a Bachelor degree in a cognate area with a minimum GPA of 5.0: across all studies undertaken within the program; or across a major in the proposed area of study; or across 80 units of 3000 level courses (which must include at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists); or where the applicant has completed less than 80 units at 3000 level, a GPA of 5.0 calculated from at least 60 units of 3000 level courses (which includes at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists).
