What will I learn?

If design is your passion, this flexible degree offers exciting majors that will develop your practical skills in a global context, so you can take your career anywhere in the world. Throughout the three-year program you will learn through project-based activities and have the opportunity to work together with students from other disciplines, mirroring a real industry environment. You’ll use industry-standard equipment and software, and graduate with a comprehensive portfolio that demonstrates your skills to future employers. You can major in an area that inspires you, including Advertising and Design, Design Innovation and Fabrication, Fashion Design, Graphic Design and Photography. If you're interested in digital design such as game design, animation and visual effects, you might like our Bachelor of Digital Creative Industries. Professional membership may be available with the Design Institute of Australia. Graduates may convert student memberships of professional design organisations, such as Australian Graphic Design Association, Design Institute of Australia and Perth Advertising and Design Club, into full professional memberships following qualification and professional experience. Develop real-world experience before you graduate. Learn how work-integrated learning helps you build career skills and connect with industry early.This major gives you the opportunity to develop your creative skills and explore pathways to careers in our increasingly visual world. You'll examine the interchanges between design, editorial and fine art photography – which will help you develop your own practice to a standard of excellence across multiple platforms. You’ll study histories and theories of photography and explore experimental approaches to the medium through lectures, tutorials, studio workshops and gallery visits. This course is ideal if you want to turn your interest in photography into a career, learning photographic techniques alongside professional practices.

Entry requirements

For international students

To apply for entry into this course, you must have met:

  • the course ATAR (Australian Tertiary Academic Rank) or equivalent recognised overseas qualification
  • ATAR - 70
  • Completion of Australian Year 12 (VCE, HSC, QCE, WACE, SACE, TCE, NTCE, ACT) with a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 70; and a scaled mark of at least 50 in English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma - 24
