What will I learn?

The major is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to teach Years 7 to 12 Chemistry and provides the extended content knowledge needed to address the demands and opportunities of the secondary school chemistry curriculum Emphasis is given to inquirybased practical work demonstrations cooperative group work whole class discussions and use of information communication technology to ensure effective learning and teaching practices in secondary science Planning teaching and assessment strategies are developed within a range of science content areas There is also a focus on collaborative teaching processes whilst acknowledging the importance of individual creative practiceLearning OutcomesAnalyse creatively to anticipate challenges and generate solutions of scientific problemsApply broad discipline knowledge to a range of theoretical and practical science situationsCommunicate disciplinary knowledge and values in professional and public contextsEvaluate critically to analyse experiment and interpret results to solve complex scientific problems
