About this course

What will I learn?

Electricity powers nearly every aspect of industry, and advances in electronic communication and embedded systems are requiring the combined knowledge and skills of electrical engineering and electronic engineering. Electrical engineering involves electricity generation, transmission and distribution and electrical equipment manufacture, instrumentation and control systems.Electronic engineering deals with scientific and engineering design for a diversity of systems. These include telecommunication, broadband and media broadcasting systems hardware and software computer modelling tools and other sophisticated electronics systems. In this course you will gain a strong foundation in both electrical and electronic engineering, covering areas such as electricity generation, digital design, control systems and instrumentation. You’ll gain the expertise for diverse career opportunities in power systems and embedded and automation systems, as well as in telecommunications.

Entry requirements

For international students

To apply for entry into this course, you must have met:

  • the course ATAR (Australian Tertiary Academic Rank) or equivalent recognised overseas qualification
  • ATAR - 80
  • Completion of Australian Year 12 (VCE, HSC, QCE, WACE, SACE, TCE, NTCE, ACT) with a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 70; and a scaled mark of at least 50 in English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma - 30
