Electrical engineers play a vital role in renewable energy generation, heavy industry and manufacturing installations, robotics and automation, mining and electrical power distribution. You will study specialist subjects in electricity generation and distribution (including renewable energy), electrical power quality, machines and drives, power electronics, control systems, and automation. You can also choose to specialise in any of the following sub-disciplines: control engineering, electronics engineering, and development of engineering systems, and power engineering.
