What will I learn?

Having a sound understanding of commercial law and the ability to manage legal risk is a skill valued by employers in the private and public sectors You will study the foundations of law including legal framework legal process legal writing and research torts and trade practices competition and consumer protection law You can then tailor the major to your area of interest with three electives including property employment banking mining international trade and intellectual property among others While this major does not qualify you to become a practising lawyer you may qualify for entry to ECUs Bachelor of Laws after completing the first year core unitsLearning OutcomesApply broad law in business knowledge to a range of business situations incorporating internationalglobalcultural perspectivesAccess analyse and critically evaluate relevant information to solve challenging law in business problems systematicallyCommunicate law in business knowledge concepts and advice persuasively and clearly in both written and oral formats using relevant technologyCollaborate effectively in team settings to produce measurable outcomesGenerate creative ideas for business innovations that respond to opportunities and constant changeReflect on feedback and critique ones own performance in order to identify and plan opportunities for developmentValue professional behaviours andor personal citizenship that reflect an appreciation of the interrelationship between business ethics and corporate social responsibility

The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published (where applicable) or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:AQF Cert IV;Successfully completed 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);Undergraduate Certificate;Special Tertiary Admissions Test;University Preparation Course;Indigenous University Orientation Course;Aboriginal University Readiness Assessment; orExperience Based Entry Scheme.International Baccalaureate Diploma - Minimum of 24 points (Minimum of 28 points for Law), consisting of aggregate from 3 higher level & 3 subsidiary level
