What will I learn?

If you want to create and explore new worlds with an animation and game art qualification, then this pathway of CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media will help you achieve your career outcomes. This course will give you the skills to produce professional animation and game art, using industry standard software.

This course is 100% practical and during your studies you will develop your creative abilities in:

3D modelling and texturing;
Concept art and storyboarding;
2D and 3D animation;
game art and design;
film editing;
visual effects; and
software such as Autodesk Maya, Toon Boom Harmony, Unity and Adobe Photoshop Premier Pro, After Effects and Animate.

When you complete your studies, you can work in a number of entertainment related industries including advertising, architecture, visualisation and content creation for virtual and augmented reality. You will also have the option to continue your studies for a further year in the CUA61615 Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media in either the Animation and Game Art, or Digital Art and Animation pathway.

Entry requirements

For international students

Equivalent to Australian Year 11.

OR Completion of CUA41220 Certificate IV in Screen and Media [Animation and Game Art] (AC82) is required for entry into this course.

IELTS score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5.0; TOEFL 55 (iBT); Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic - Minimum Level 43; Password score of 5.5; Eiken Grade Pre 1; Successful completion of at least 2 years of study at an acceptable grade in an English medium course completed within the previous 2 years OR GCE O Levels English with 'C'; 'A' or 'B' in Malaysian SPM English or 'C' in 1119 English; Kenyan KCSE English 'C'; International Baccalaureate (IB) Minimum of 3 in English A1 or A2; Completion of the Cambridge First Certificate of English (FCE); Successful completion of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Upper Intermediate Level or equivalent at North Metropolitan TAFE or a recognized English college.
