What to expect?

The Diploma in Engineering is equivalent to the first year of QUT’s Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), providing an introduction to engineering units, concepts and data. As a Diploma student, you will receive additional academic and language support preparing you for successful study in the Faculty of Engineering.

  • Develop academic language and literary skills through literature reviews and presentations.
  • Benefit from an interactive learning environment, with small classes and more contact hours.
  • Study on campus with access to all services and facilities across the University.
  • On completion, receive a guaranteed place in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) with 1 year of advanced standing.

Subject prerequisites

Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)

You must have achieved this study at a level comparable to Australian Year 12 or in recognised post-secondary studies.

English Language Requirements

IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking score of 5; TOEFL iBT score of 56 with Listening, Reading score of 10, Writing score of 15 and Speaking score of 14; Pearson PTE (Academic) score of 46 with Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking score of 38; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score of 162 with Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking score of 154.
