What will I learn?

The Diploma of Business (Management) is embedded in the Bachelor and Associate Degree of Business (Management) and has been designed as both an exit qualification and a pathway into the Bachelor qualification. The overall aim of the Diploma of Business (Management) is to provide a flexible, student-centred and academically rigorous course of study, which seeks to further develop students’ business administration and management skills and competencies and give them a solid foundation for further study in the undergraduate level. This course provides students with undergraduate level of knowledge, competencies and values necessary for a fulfilling career in various areas of business administration and management. For this reason, students are required to undertake six core units which includes Academic Skills for Success Marketing Foundations Business Communication and Stakeholder Management Accounting for Managers Principles of Management and Organisations and Foundations of Information Technology. These core units are enhanced by two specialised management units of Service Management and Introduction to Global Business.

Entry requirements

For international students

International students must provide evidence of one the following to demonstrate they have successfully met one of the following - Successful completion of Year 12 at the credit or above level as determined in Student Admissions Policy or overseas equivalent; or Recognised Foundation Studies course; or Successful completion of one year of accredited tertiary study at an Australian institution; or Successful completion of an Australian Certificate IV; or International Baccalaureate with a score of 24. Partially completed undergraduate studies in Australia with another provider at the same Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level or higher. Where the student has passed less than 50% of the units attempted, the student will be placed under the Student at Risk program for monitoring of course progression. The Institute has provided a list of country specific academic requirement for applicants using overseas secondary schooling qualifications under Appendix 1 of Student Admissions Policy. For applicants with schooling from a country not listed, an individual assessment will be made by the Institute when applying.
