What will I learn?

The Diploma of Legal Studies will be of interest to students planning a career where a knowledge of fundamental legal principles and basic legal skills will be of use, e.g. business administration, legal administration, federal, state or local government administration. It will also be of interest to students who have a general interest in the law as an area of study. The Diploma of Legal Studies will teach students core skills to enhance their career prospects, whether that be a student fresh out of school or someone wishing to upgrade their qualifications. Some core skills covered include familiarity with the fundamental features of Australias legal system, the principles of business law and contract law, contemporary legal and ethical issues confronting Australian society, communicating in groups, conflict resolution, problem solving, individual and group decision making, and an understanding of ethics, morals and cultural beliefs.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students who have completed Year 12 in Australia or equivalent secondary studies in other countries.

English language proficiency requirements:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic Overall score 6.0 with no sub score less than 5.5

Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT): Overall score 60 (no scores below 19 in Writing, 16 in Speaking, and 10 in Reading and Listening)

Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score 50 with no Communicative Scores below 42
