If you want to work as a Master in the maritime industry on ships of any gross tonnage in any operating area, then MAR60315 Advanced Diploma of Maritime Operations - Master Unlimited is the course to give you the skills and knowledge you need to meet academic requirements for Master Unlimited certification as described in Marine Orders Part 3 - Seagoing Qualifications (Version 6) under the Navigation Act 1912.
It provides you with the practical skills and knowledge appropriate to the management of a vessel in the area of marine safety, bridge and cargo operations, stability, marine law, ship management, construction and maintenance. You will learn vessel handling skills, navigational safety and command operations, and management skills required for this industry.
Students wishing to enter this course must meet AMSA requirements:
(a) completed at least 12 months documented qualifying seagoing service in charge of a navigation watch on vessels >500 GT WHILE holding a Certificate of Competency as a Watchkeeper Deck AND on vessels on voyages of at least 24 hours duration.
Based on any certificates or qualifications that you may already hold, you MAY be required to undertake additional short course qualifications as specified by AMSA. This is an AMSA requirement for certification for all seafarers. The fees may be up to $9,996 depending on your training.
This course is cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as a Master (Unlimited) as described in Marine Orders 70 and 71(2014) under the Navigation Act 2012 by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Full certification requires achievement of MAR60315 Advanced Diploma of Maritime Operations (Master Unlimited), with seagoing service and other requirements.

Completion of MAR50320 Diploma of Maritime Operations [Watchkeeper Deck] (AC52) OR MAR50320 Diploma of Maritime Operations [Master less than 500 GT] (AC53) is required for entry into this course.
An IELTS score (Academic) of 7.0 with no band score less than 7.0 or equivalent; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic – Minimum Level 43; Password score of 5.5; Eiken Grade Pre 1; Successful completion of at least 2 years of study at an acceptable grade in an English medium course completed within the previous 2 years OR GCE O Levels English with 'C'; 'A' or 'B' in Malaysian SPM English or 'C' in 1119 English; Kenyan KCSE English 'C'; International Baccalaureate (IB) Minimum of 3 in English A1 or A2; Completion of the Cambridge First Certificate of English (FCE); Successful completion of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Upper Intermediate Level or equivalent at North Metropolitan TAFE or a recognized English college.
