What will I learn?

Equip yourself with the skills to tackle the big environmental problems facing contemporary and future society with the ANU Master of Environment.

Studying at one of the top 10 universities in the world for environmental sciences, you’ll be exposed to current perspectives on environmental issues and approaches, and will develop depth of knowledge in a selected disciplinary area.

You could choose to specialise in biodiversity conservation, climate science and policy, disaster studies, environmental policy, environmental studies and human ecology, geography, natural resource management, sustainability science or water science and management.

The Advanced program incorporates up to a year of research with mentoring by a Supervisor and the production of a thesis.

Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:

Demonstrate both a broad knowledge of contemporary issues and challenges in environment and sustainability, and expert knowledge in an area of specialization

Independently apply their advanced knowledge and analytical, research, teamwork, and oral and written communication skills in professional practice in environment and sustainability

Effectively communicate knowledge and understanding in environment and sustainability to both specialist and non-specialist audiences

Demonstrate that they have completed appropriate research training for further study

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students must have a successfully completed Evidence-Based Management EdX MicroMasters, achieving at least 70% in the final capstone exam.

For international students

A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.5/7.0, and the approval of an identified supervisor for the research project/thesis.

Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 24 units (one semester) of credit. Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor degree with Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 48 units (one year) of credit.

Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component of the test; TOEFL internet based test score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and 18 in Speaking and Listening; TOEFL paper based test score of 570 with TWE score of 4.5; Cambridge CAE Advanced score of 176 overall with at least 169 in all sub skills; PTE Academic score of Overall 64, minimum score of 55 in each section.
