What will I learn?

This program enables you to pursue research in any area you are appropriately qualified in. Research areas include but are not limited to: autism spectrum disorders, clinical and health psychology, behavioural neuroscience and neuropsychology, cognitive and developmental psychology and social and intercultural psychology.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9 – Masters Degree by Research.

Career outcomes

This degree will equip you with the tools and knowledge to pursue a research-related career in higher education, government, or the public health sector. It can also serve as a pathway into a PhD.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have an an Australian Bachelor's degree or an approved international equivalent qualification. IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0, TOEFL Internet based (iBT): overall score of 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing. Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50. C1 Advanced: 176 with no less than 169 in any component. C2 Proficiency: 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

For international students

The minimum academic requirement for entry to a Masters by research at La Trobe is a three year Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline completed within the last ten years with a weighted average mark in the final year of 65 or above.

English language requirements
