What will I learn?

In this course you’ll analyse taxation principles in depth, and gain specialised knowledge in Australian and international taxation, superannuation and retirement planning. You’ll develop a solid understanding of capital gains tax, trusts, Goods and Services Tax and indirect taxes, estate planning, advanced taxation, international tax and other contemporary taxation topics. You’ll benefit from the course’s strong industry links as you learn from tax professionals, practical assignments and case studies, and gain exposure to industry networking opportunities. Curtin’s on-campus tax clinic offers you unique hands-on and practical work experience providing tax advice to the public and businesses. You’ll also get to participate in field trips and national and international study tours.What you'll learnadopt a global outlook when applying taxation law principles to practical scenarios and case studies. Conduct original research to broaden discipline knowledge, including consideration of international tax issues. Exhibit responsibility by critically analysing and reflecting on legislation and case law to enhance professional practice on a global scaleprioritise responsible decision-making through the critical analysis of relevant taxation materials. Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants require a recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent) in the field of taxation or a related discipline, or a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in the field of taxation or a related discipline. In addition, applicants must meet Curtin's English language proficiency requirements.

Applicants without a related (cognate) Bachelor's degree will need to complete the Graduate Certificate in Taxation Practice to proceed to be considered for the Master of Taxation degree program.
