What will I learn?

American Studies focuses primarily on the history, geography, literature, and culture of the United States, while also exploring the nation’s government, politics, music, and art.

American Studies is an interdisciplinary program that give students a solid understanding of the country and its diverse population and culture as well as its place in history and its impact on the world.

At Mount Allison, American Studies is an interdisciplinary program drawing on courses in a number of subject areas.

American history from the colonial period, to the Civil War, to the present
Historical geography of North America

Entry requirements

For international students

Students registering at Mount Allison are expected to have graduated from high school at the university preparatory level. International English Language Testing System – Academic (IELTS) score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0; TOEFL score of 90 (internet test), With minimum band score: Listening: 17; Reading: 18; Speaking: 20; Writing: 17; CAEL (CE) - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment, Computer Edition – 70 With no part lower than 60; Cambridge English (B2 First, C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency) – 176 With no band score lower than 169.
