The English Department at StFX is characterized by an effort to fuse current research with excellence in teaching to offer students courses and degree patterns that foreground the historical diversity and contemporary value of the broad skill set an English degree offers. With English, students can develop their communication, research, and writing skills all through the lens of fascinating literature across a host of periods, genres, and mediums.English students are offered a wide variety of courses that survey a range of national literatures and historical periods such analysis provides students with detailed examinations of the changing history, definitions, and function of literature, art, and culture. Students will develop as critical thinkers and writers, researchers, and active participants in our multifaceted intellectual and sociocultural environment.
