What will I learn?

All students in the Elementary degree program are enrolled in a Generalist program that prepares you to instruct all of the required elementary-school subjects. Unlike Secondary Education, you will not select a major in a specific area of study. Teaching is a calling, and elementary education is a truly special career. Our Bachelor of Education (Elementary) degree in the Faculty of Education prepares you to facilitate the learning of all children from Kindergarten to Grade 6 within our diverse and multicultural society.The Elementary Education program includes a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) and a nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). This degree can be taken as a four-year program or as an after-degree. Upon completion of this program, you will earn a Bachelor of Education degree (BEd) and be recommended for teacher certification in Alberta.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students applying directly from high school.

Admission is based on complete academic history and achievement in three main areas: Grades, English proficiency, and completion of required subjects.

English language Requirement:

TOEFL: iBT: At least 90 with a minimum score of 21 points in each section

IELTS(Academic): At least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0

CanTEST(Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees): At least 4.5, with no part lower than 4

PTE(Academic): At least 61, with no less than 60 in each communicative skill

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language assessment) Either CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer): A score of at least 70, with no band less than 60

Duolingo English Test: 120 for English Language Proficiency, with no sub score below 100
