The Bachelor of Fine Arts is a professional degree program intended for students seeking professional preparation in the visual arts. A student may obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) 4-year degree by satisfactorily completing 120 credit hours of coursework, subject to the regulations set forth within the requirements for that degree. The Bachelor of Fine Arts: Ensures all students are equally cognizant and conversant with the arts of European based society and of North American aboriginal societies.Addresses career preparation, marketing, and small business management as required areas of academic study in order to continue as professional practicing artists.Provides a knowledge of contemporary art that is respectful of its roots from previous art historical movements.Develops students’ competencies in the technical applications used in art production by being discipline focused in the areas of painting, ceramics and printmaking.Provides a window into emerging hybrid art forms developed through traditional fine arts media and digital technology. BU and Assiniboine will work together to enable the transfer of visual art skills in traditional media to computer based design applications. The program highlights opportunities to explore digital technology for research, visual cross-referencing, art practice and online exhibitions. This program focuses on Drawing major.

Benefits: The Co-op Program at Brandon University provides you with the opportunity to gain relevant and meaningful work experience while you explore different career options. At the same time, you will expand your network of industry professionals and build skills suited to the ever-changing job market. Both work and academic terms are full-time and follow a formalized sequence. The total amount of co-op work experience is normally at least 30 percent of the time spent in academic study. A work term is defined as a minimum of 12 weeks and/or 420 hours full-time paid experience. The Work Experience Stream consists of one work term. The Co-op Stream consists of two or three work terms.

All full-time Brandon University students in good standing and enrolled in a degree with a declared major in one of the participating disciplines are eligible to apply for admission to the Co-operative Education Program (which includes the Work Experience Stream and the Co-op Stream). International students are eligible for work permits that are valid only for co-op employment arranged through the co-op program. Students must meet the course and major GPA criteria according to the department offering their declared major.
