What will I learn?

Get training in both health care aide and health unit clerk to help others live with dignity and independence. This program is only available to international students. It is separated into two core parts: Health Care Aide and Health Unit Clerk. The Health Care Aide term gives you the knowledge and skills you need to become a health care worker, helping people remain independent while they receive care. Under the supervision of a nurse, youll assist hospital patients, personal care home residents and home care clients with their daily activities and physical, emotional and social needs. The Health Unit Clerk term prepares you with the versatile knowledge and skills required to work as part of a health care team, maintaining patient and unit records, managing unit supplies and processing physician, diagnostic and laboratory orders. Work practicum is an integral part of this program. These practical, real-world experiences give you the opportunity to test skills, practice theoretical knowledge and expand your network.

Entry requirements

For international students

Submit proof of graduation from or enrolment in Grade 12, including one credit in each of the following:

  • Grade 12 English
  • Grade 12 Math
  • Grade 10, 11 or 12 Science

If you provide proof of enrolment at the time of application, your official final grades indicating successful completion must be July 15 for fall enrolment or by the deadline specified in your admission letter.

If you are required to complete an English language assessment, do not submit your transcripts until requested to do so. See English Language Requirements (ELRs) for more information.

PTE - Academic Online Assessment (Pearson Test of English): Listening 50, Speaking 50, Reading 50, Writing 50

TOEFL - iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - internet Based Test): Listening 19, Speaking 18, Reading 18, Writing 21

Duolingo (Duolingo English Test): minimum overall score of 115 required.
