About this course

What will I learn?

The Langara Fine Arts diploma is a strong 2-year foundation that emphasizes hands-on skills, materiality and ethical practices within a supportive community of makers, learners and thinkers. Students take 4-6 classes per term. This is a rigorous, full time program and students should expect to budget a minimum of 4 hours homework time for each studio class taken. Some studios (ceramics, sculpture and printmaking) require working in the studio rather than at home.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).

English Language Requirements

  • A minimum 70% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, or Literary Studies 12;
  • Langara English Test (LET) with a score of 3;
  • An 'S' grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum 'C' grade in ENGL 1120;
  • A minimum 'C-' grade in an English (Post-Secondary Transfer) course;
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an English-speaking country completed at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English;
  • IB English A (HL or SL) or IB English Literature and Performance (SL) with a score of 3;
  • AP English Literature and Composition or AP English Language and Composition with a score of 2; or
  • A minimum 'C' grade in GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B
