Social innovation brings new perspectives to existing ways of decision-making in today’s world Discover the tremendous capacities of communities and individuals looking to initiate systems change. The Social Innovation and Community Development program is designed for learners who want to create change in urban, rural, local or global settings. Through this program, you will build the theory, practical skills and work experience needed for employment in socio-economic development and environmental issues. You will also develop the capacity to work for Indigenous communities and organizations, government institutions and social enterprises. Through a combination of applied learning and work experience, you’ll focus on the social, political, cultural and economic factors that contribute to urban, rural, local and global development. You’ll also develop a deeper understanding of community development and economic reconciliation as observed through Indigenous perspectives.Certificate: After completing the first year of the program, you can conclude your studies with a Foundations in Social Innovation and Community Development certificate.Diploma: After completing the common first year of the program, you can choose to continue your studies and attain a diploma from one of two specific majors – Community Development or Indigenous Social Entrepreneurship.After completing the foundation year in the Social Innovation and Community Development program, you will have the option of choosing to complete your diploma year in Indigenous Social Entrepreneurship. Courses within this program are experiential, project-based, and modular. Many are scheduled sequentially participants ladder their knowledge of the different dimensions of social entrepreneurship towards the ultimate goal of establishing an enterprise of your own or joining a social enterprise with knowledge of every aspect of the business. You will develop a product or service addressing a specific market and social opportunity and build the organizational infrastructure needed to launch that enterprise.

An interim transcript confirming enrolment in the required courses The regular admission requirement for all College programs (excluding upgrading and introduction programs and those programs requiring post-secondary education) is a Grade 12 or mature student high school diploma including any pre-requisite courses identified in the program admission requirements.
