What will I learn?

The Faculty of Engineering offers a vibrant research environment where the traditional disciplines of mechanical, civil, chemical, electrical, computer, and software engineering and computer science come together in a unique synergy.Established in 1983, the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Electrical and Computer Engineering (OCIECE) combines the research strengths of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Ottawa and the departments of Electronics and of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University.The Institute is one of the participating units in the collaborative program in Science, Society and Policy.

Entry requirements

For international students

Have Bachelors degree with a specialization, or a major in electrical and computer engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum average of 70% (B).

Demonstrate a good academic performance in previous studies as shown by official transcripts, research reports, abstracts or any other documents demonstrating research skills.

Identify at least one professor who is willing to supervise your research and thesis.

We recommend that you contact potential thesis supervisors as soon as possible.

To enroll, you need to have been accepted by a thesis supervisor.

The supervisors name is required at the time of application.

The Accelerated Stream has two additional requirements:

Complete up to 6 units in Masters courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering each with 70% (B) or higher grade (taken during their Bachelors program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering).

Have an admission average of A- (80%) or higher.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
