Under faculty supervision, you’ll find critical ways to apply this knowledge through opportunities such as a practicum project with community organizations or research institutes.OutcomesStudents in this program will:develop advanced skills in devising and facilitation of Applied Theatre workshops and performancesconnect with local communities, and design material that addresses their concerns and challengesengage with theoretical concepts in the field, and develop a critical lens at examining Applied Theatre initiatives locally and globallyGraduate studies at the Department of Theatre will immerse you in a dynamic academic and research environment, with the support and guidance you need to take your passion to the next level.With graduate programs in directing, design/production, theatre history and applied theatre, we offer graduate students the opportunity to work alongside a diverse group of students in small classes and receive close mentorship from internationally renowned artists, scholars, directors and designers.Students in our MFA programs have access to extensive industry-standard performance facilities that are paired with the artistic and technical excellence of an established university theatre company.

Entry requirements

For international students

completion of four years of full-time academic studies in which all language of instruction is English, at a high school or post-secondary institution in a recognized English-speaking countryHigh school diploma or equivalent (academic stream) with high-level results / minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalentcompletion of Grade 12 English or its equivalent in Canada with a final grade of 86% or higher within the last three years prior to admissiona score of 86% or higher on the BC Provincial Grade 12 English Examination within the last three years prior to admissiona score of 4 or higher on the Advanced Placement Exam in English Language and Compositiona score of 4 or higher on IB Higher Level English A
