The Philosophy of Data Science (PODS) field enables students from a variety of backgrounds to propose original and creative solutions to problems arising from the development and advancement of new information technologies in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.Program Students in the PODS field of the Philosophy MA take field-specific courses, establish competency in programming and statistics and complete a Major Research Paper, with the option to engage in an interdisciplinary ethics audit with students in the Collaborative Specialization in Artificial Intelligence (CSAI). Ethical issues arising from contemporary Data Science, Machine Learning and AI? ? Normative questions about basic sciences that utilize Big Data? ? Health science and Machine Learning? ? Conceptual issues in AI and Machine Learning?CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: The Philosophy of Data Science field aims to produce thought leaders who are attentive to the larger social aspects of technology, and who can help to align emerging technologies with shared social values in academia, industry, and the non-profit sector. Graduates of this program will be wellpositioned to pursue both researchoriented careers in academia and applied projects in industry

Minimum Degree: Normally, the minimum requirement for admission to a master's program is successful completion of an undergraduate degree/ baccalaureate, in an honours program or the equivalent, from a recognized university. Minimum Admisson Average: 70% (B-) average is required in the last two years of full-time equivalent study. Calculating Admission Average: North American Degrees; A four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. Typically, the last 20 one-semester courses consist of 10 Credits/60 Units/60 Hours For in-progress degrees, the total number of credits with grades that are used may be lower. E.g. 8 Credits/48 Units/48 Hours may have grades while 2 Credits/12 Units/12 Hours will be in progress. International Degrees; Country-specific degree equivalent to Guelph's four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. Typically, the last 4 full-time semesters (or 6 full-time semesters for full-year education systems) equivalent credits.
