Conestoga's skills-based Mechanical Technician - General Machinist program prepares you for entry into the general machinist skilled trade or a related career in the manufacturing sector, including apprenticeship through the study of computer-integrated manufacturing applications. This program covers all the learning outcomes for Level 1 and Level 2 of the related apprenticeship program in Ontario. A graduate of this program may not be required to complete the in-school apprenticeship training or take an exemption exam for Levels 1 and 2, should they choose to pursue a general machinist apprenticeship. As a student in the program, you can apply to the co-op stream in the second term. The optional co-op stream, available only to students starting the program in the Fall, includes two back-to-back co-op work terms. Due to the placement of co-op work terms, the academic terms are Fall/Winter in Year 1 and Winter/Spring in Year 2. Please note: students starting in Spring are in an accelerated delivery (Spring/Fall, Winter/Spring), so they do not have a co-op option.
