What will I learn?

If you want to earn an academic degree of the highest level and become an expert in your field, then choose our PhD program. Alongside professors who are some of the world's best in their disciplines, you will embark on a major research program exploring a specific aspect of forestry or environmental management. You will be able to tailor your research to whatever you are passionate about, including forest management, natural disturbance, silviculture, climate change, soil science, water quality management, wildlife conservation, and much more. You will develop a research proposal based on your interests, and complete a thesis and an approved course program. The PhD program generally takes a minimum of three years of full time study. You have the option of studying full-time or part-time. Duration: four years (PhD)

Entry requirements

For international students

PhD applicants must hold a Master's degree in a recognized field, or have an excellent honours undergraduate degree. PhD students are required to take Research Methods (FOR6913) in their first year and be registered in their Thesis (FOR6998) every year of their program. Students must also register for Graduate Seminar (FOR6910) in both Fall and Winter Terms and participate in a research symposium.
