What will I learn?

The Discipline of Bacteriology aims to advance human health and wellbeing through education, research, innovation and community engagement. We have a dynamic and vibrant research group whose interests include antimicrobial resistance, epidemiology, food and water borne pathogens, the impact of the environment on human health, and the economic and societal impact of infection. The Discipline offers Structured PhDs in a wide area of medical interest. To pursue a degree, potential candidates should discuss the matter with the Head of Discipline Prof. Martin Cormican or Dr. Dearbháile Morris.

Entry requirements

For international students

MSc candidates should normally have a high honours standard in a relevant academic discipline at primary degree level or equivalent together with the support of an academic staff member who is approved by the College to supervise the research in terms of its nature and scope.Additional entry requirementsCandidates may be required to submit a research proposal for consideration by the School as part of their application.
