What will I learn?

Mechatronics blends mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science to design, build, and operate smart machines. You’ll find mechatronic systems in industrial machines, domestic appliances, robots, and unmanned aerial vehicles. At Curtin, you’ll build a solid foundation in mechanics, electronics, and computer systems, with a practical focus through project-based learning. From your second year, you’ll engage in hands-on projects, culminating in a major design or research project in your final year. As a Mechatronic Engineer, you’ll work at the intersection of mechanical devices and electronic control systems. With rapid advances in automation, such as self-driving vehicles and industrial robotics, your expertise will be in high demand. Expanding fields like transportation, agriculture, healthcare, biotechnology, mining, energy, and aerospace will offer exciting career opportunities. You’ll apply your skills through projects involving mobile robots, pneumatic automation, and machine control systems. You’ll develop skills across mechanical, electrical, and computer systems engineering to create and operate smart machines. You’ll be involved in practical project-based learning which starts from the second year, with a major design or research project in the final year. With the rise of automation, including self-driving vehicles and robotics, your expertise will be in high demand.
