The Bachelor of Commerce with Honours is for high-achieving students with a relevant bachelor's degree. A choice of seven subjects is available. As a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours graduate you will be able to: demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of current theoretical concepts and frameworks within your major discipline think logically, analytically, and critically with respect to the academic literature in your major discipline plan and carry out a supervised programme of academic research that shows a sound understanding of ethical practice synthesise academic or professional literature and effectively communicate research orally and in written form. Accountants assess and report on the performance of organisations, and inform decisions about pricing, costs, systems and processes, investments, organisational strategy, and management. They also check if relevant rules and laws have been followed and ensure that the information is reliable and up-to-date. At UC, you will learn about accounting, auditing, tax rules and practices, and the role accountants play in many contexts including public, private, environmental, and political. Completing specific courses within the major can make you eligible for professional membership with recognised accounting bodies such as Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), CPA Australia, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), or other international organisations - paving the way for you to become a certified or chartered accountant. Explore important issues such as business ethics and corporate social responsibility, data analytics, cryptocurrencies, and the increasing challenges of globalisation. By taking specific courses, you can qualify for provisional membership with professional bodies such as Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), CPA Australia, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), or other international organisations, which means you can become a certified, chartered accountant. You can minor in Accounting in a large number of bachelor’s degrees to add accounting and financial knowledge to your studies.
